Natural Cleaning with Lemons

Everyone knows that we love finding new ways to clean naturally and use lemons at Land of Clean. White Socks

Boil a slice of lemon for a few minutes.  Place socks in the water to soak and clean. Rinse and wash.

Remove Ink Spots on Clothes

Rub some lemon juice on ink stains or spots to help to remove them.

Cleaning Kitchen ItemsClean Sticky Foods from a Cheese Grater

Cut a lemon in half.  Rub both sides of a cheese grater with the pulp side of the lemon.  Your kitchen sponges will thank you.

Dishes in Dishwasher

To help increase grease cutting power, add a teaspoon of lemon juice to your dishwashing detergent.

Make Glasses and Coffee Pots Sparkle

Rub glass surface with a cut lemon or soak the glass items in lemon juice then dry.

Freshen the Garbage Disposal

Deodorize a garbage disposal by tossing used lemons into them.  Run water and garbage disposal.

Clean Toilet Bowl

Mix a cup of lemon juice with one half cup of Borax.  Clean toilet using this solution as normal to make clean and fresh.

Furniture Polish

Mix one half cup lemon juice with one cup olive oil. Rub lightly into wood furniture after testing a small spot first.

All Purpose Cleaner

Add equal amounts lemon juice and distilled water to an empty and clean spray bottle as a natural kitchen and bathroom cleaner.

Put warm soapy water into a bowl.  Squeeze the juice from half a lemon into the bowl. Place the bowl into the microwave and run for about 3 minutes, or long enough to create steam. After the microwave shuts off, keep the door closed for several minutes to allow the steam to cool.  In the meantime, the lemon soap steam will be soaking and cleaning the interior microwave walls. Remove the bowl and use a clean towel to wipe the microwave clean.

Clean Stains on Cutting Boards

Rub half a lemon and some salt on wood or plastic cutting boards to help remove stains.

Clean Copper

Using lemon juice and salt, make a paste.  Rub copper using this paste with a rough cloth. Rinse and dry for a good shine.

Shine Aluminum

Rub the cut side of a lemon directly on aluminum to restore shine.

Remove Rust

Use lemon juice in the washing machine to remove rust and other mineral discolorations from cotton items.  Soak utensils in lemon juice to remove rust spots.

 Eliminate Odors from Portable Humidifiers

Add 3 or 4 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice into humidifier water to eliminate odors.

Sharpen a Knife

A lemon can be a quick fix substitute for a knife sharpener. Slice a lemon and rub slowly back and forth on the knife blade to create friction. Be careful.

Lime Scale

Clean lime scale using half a lemon by rubbing lemon on faucets and shower heads.
