Baking Soda Can Help Clean Mineral Stains on Windows

Here are more ideas and uses for baking soda from your favorite Plano maid service, Land of Clean. Baking soda is one of nature’s green wonders when it comes to cleaning up around the house. Baking soda is a natural deodorizer and buffing agent. So go grab a box of baking soda and see if any of the following ideas work for you.

Homemade Odor Eaters

Does someone in your family have stinky feet? Skip the store-bought odor eating inserts and make some of your own. Mix 1/4 cup of baking soda in a gallon of warm to hot water. Grab some clean socks out of the dryer. Soak the socks in the baking soda solution for at least 30 minutes so that the socks are completely permeated. Throw the socks into the washing machine and turn on the spin cycle to remove as much moisture as possible. Don’t allow the washing machine to rinse them! Alternatively, you can hand-wring the socks yourself. Afterwards, put the socks into the clothes dryer and dry as normal. Once dry, you now have homemade odor eating socks!

Silver Polish

Grab a damp cloth. Sprinkle baking soda on it. Gently polish silver. It’s that easy.

Pet Vomit Cleaner

We have not tried this use on human vomit, although we suspect it works. If you pet has thrown-up, liberally pour baking soda onto the vomit until it is heavily coated. Wait while the vomit absorbs the baking soda and dries out. Next, vacuum or scoop up the vomit. The baking soda acts as a neutralizer for the natural acids in the vomit and also will help deodorize. Use a spotter afterwards if necessary.

Clean Stained Windows

For windows which are stained with mineral deposits, baking soda is an excellent cleaning agent. Grab a a wet soft cloth. Blot it in some baking soda. Rub the windows gently and follow up with a window cleaner. Mineral deposits should disappear.

Clean Off Burnt Food

Do you have some burnt on food in your casserole dish? Baking soda can help remove it. Fill the dish with 1 tablespoon of baking soda and hot water. Allow to stand as long as needed to soften up burned food. Wash out and clean as normal.
