How to Make Your Own Organic Drain Opener

Cleaning Services in Frisco, TX

Success!

A clogged drain can turn anyone’s day upside down. It usually happens at the worst time and can cause all sorts of stress. The stressful part is not just having a clogged drain, but also not wanting to pour some weird store-bought chemical down the drain to clear it out. Not only is there worry that the chemicals might melt your pipes, but most people also worry what happens to the chemical gunk after it goes down the drain and out of the house. No worries, our cleaning services in Frisco, TX have a couple of ways to clear out those drains and pipes naturally.

Cleaning Minor Clogs

For slow-flowing drains and minor clogs, the solution is simple. Pour 1 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of salt down the drain. Any type of salt will do, including rock salt, table salt, sea salt or kosher salt. We recommend skipping the sea salt and finding something cheaper. After pouring the baking soda and salt down the drain, pour a pot of boiling water down the drain after it while making sure not to splash yourself with hot water. Our maid service recommends that you don’t use the sink for a couple of hours. If the clog is caused by grease, the grease should dissolve almost immediately with this technique and the drain will open. Otherwise, repeat and try again.

Cleaning Bad Clogs

If salt and baking soda don’t work or if the clog is really bad then it’s time to step it up a notch. Take a quart of hot water and dissolve 2 tablespoons of washing soda in it. What’s washing soda? It is sodium carbonate (or soda ash) and can be found at most grocery stores. Washing soda is actually very closely related to baking soda. If you can’t find it at the grocery store, you can make washing soda yourself. Nature’s Nurture goes through the steps on how to do so with a technique of cooking¬† normal baking soda in the oven. Now back to the clogged drain. Pour the washing soda and water mixture slowly down the drain. Wait 10 minutes then flush the drain with hot water.
